School Overview
Located in the heart of Phoenix, William R. Sullivan School has been a proud part of the Murphy community since 1949, when it first opened as Murphy School No. 2. Named in honor of former Murphy Elementary School District Superintendent William R. Sullivan, our school has a long-standing tradition of serving students and families with care, purpose, and pride.
Today, Sullivan School serves more than 400 students in kindergarten through 8th grade, offering a supportive and engaging learning environment where students are encouraged to grow academically, socially, and emotionally. Our dedicated educators focus on building strong foundations while also empowering students with the skills and confidence they need to succeed beyond the classroom.
At Sullivan, we believe school is more than a place to learn—it is a community. Families, staff, and students work together to create a safe, inclusive space where every child feels valued and supported. From hands-on learning experiences to enrichment opportunities and community events, we are committed to helping every student discover their potential and thrive.
We are proud of our history and excited about our future. At William R. Sullivan School, students are supported, families are welcomed, and learning is a journey we take together.

Experience a Sullivan Education

Educators Who Inspire Growth
At Sullivan School, our teachers do more than deliver instruction—they inspire students to grow academically, socially, and personally.
By nurturing confidence, responsibility, and leadership skills, our educators help students build a strong foundation for success in school and in life.

A Supportive Community
Families value Sullivan’s close-knit kindergarten through 8th grade environment, where students are known, supported, and encouraged at every stage of their educational journey.
This continuity helps students build strong relationships, feel a sense of belonging, and grow with confidence year after year.

Learning Beyond the Classroom
Sullivan offers opportunities that extend learning beyond academics, including enrichment activities, leadership development, and school-wide events.
These experiences help students develop real-world skills—collaboration, problem-solving, and resilience—that prepare them for future success.
